I have approximately $11,000 of outdoor gear organized by category in a room I call the gear room. The map on the wall has locations circled. I circled them in 2021. I am working on visiting them.

My research methodology is thorough. I evaluate products across weight, durability, warmth-to-weight ratio, and published field test data from multiple independent sources. I have confirmed most of this data by weighing items on my bathroom scale and setting up tents in the backyard.

In May 2026, I completed a two-day trip in the Olympic Peninsula. The gear performed as the specifications indicated it would. Linda came with one jacket. She was also fine. We have discussed this.

WardrobeWhatever the gear category of this episode requires. Rain jacket at his desk. Technical base layer at his computer. Grant field-tests products in his home. He does not see the irony.
Voice- "In alpine conditions you want a sleeping bag rated to at least ten degrees below your expected low. [beat] I sleep in a temperature-controlled bedroom but the principle holds."

Every episode, same rule: the flaw never resolves. That's the show.
