Grant's verdict: Buy it, and use the tabs. A genuinely excellent two-person ultralight tent with one setup step most owners skip — and skipping it is what breaks tents in weather. We analyzed 57 owner comments across 4 YouTube reviews (top comments, past ~2 years).
Who it's for
Buy this if: Two backpackers who want liveable space at ultralight weight, and solo hikers who want room to bring gear inside rather than leave it in a vestibule.
Skip this if: Anyone pairing two wide (25″) sleeping pads, and budget buyers — price was the single most-raised complaint theme in the comments we read.
In practice
The Velcro tabs are not optional, and almost everyone ignores them
The single most-liked insight in the owner comments we read was about the small Velcro tabs that wrap the guy-line points to the pole structure. They transfer wind load from the fly directly into the poles instead of into the fabric and seams. Owners describe failing to engage them as one of the most common causes of storm damage on this tent. It takes about thirty seconds at pitch time, it is easy to miss because nothing looks wrong without it, and it is the difference between a tent that handles a bad night and one that does not.
'High volume' is the whole point of the design
The HV in the name is steep, near-vertical wall geometry. On paper the floor is ordinary for a two-person ultralight tent; in practice you can both sit upright without your heads and shoulders pressing into wet fly fabric. That is the feature you are paying for, and it is the one that matters most on a rain day when the tent stops being a bedroom and becomes the only room.
The tapered floor is the real limitation
The floor narrows at the foot. Two standard 20-inch pads fit; two wide 25-inch pads do not, and owners who want that combination report having to size up to the three-person version to get it. If you and your partner both sleep on wide pads, measure before you buy — this is the most common sizing mistake on this model, and it is not obvious from the spec sheet.
